I’m Charles Nichols, the owner of NichTech Roof Systems, and I would like to introduce my company. NichTech Roof Systems was established after many years of service and my relationship to the industry for the past 25 years. Before moving my family from North Texas to Claremore, Oklahoma in 2007, I was a National Training Manager for the largest manufacturer of roofing products in the United States (GAF/ELK Materials Corporation). My job was simply to travel the country and teach Roofing Technologies, Application Techniques, Roofing Efficiency, Understanding Ventilation, Wind and Hail Damage Assessment, and Roofing Safety in both the residential and commercial roofing industry.

Having been a National Training Manager for North America’s largest roofing manufacturer for many years, I can tell you that not all roofing contractors are equal. Don’t get me wrong, there are some good contractors out there, but finding them can be a real challenge. Consider this: Oklahoma has a reputation of being one of the most dangerous states in America to live in with the constant threat of high winds, hail, and tornadoes; however, the State of Oklahoma requires no licensing for Roofing Contractors and there is no guidance or training either.

With storm damage being so prevalent in Oklahoma, isn’t it time for Oklahomans to have access to a roofing contractor who is dedicated to excellence and constantly learning and training in the latest roofing technology and application methods to ensure high quality roof systems are being installed? I believe it is, and that is why Nichtech Roof Systems was established.

Nichtech Roof Systems is a full-service roofing contractor. Our services include re-roof and new roof installation for both residential and commercial property owners. We also offer Roof Evaluations, Trouble Shooting, Roof Maintenance, and Repair. I believe that every customer deserves personal, individualized attention, and my goal is 100% Customer Satisfaction!

I firmly believe that our SIZE gives us an advantage. My company is a small business on purpose, and I choose to be a small company so that I can manage the intangibles and use my expertise and knowledge to protect you and your assets while providing minimal disruption to you and your family. I take pride in my work and I show that by taking time to manage every project from start to finish personally. I do this to ensure that you receive the high quality roof system you expect.

How to Find a Qualified Tulsa Roofer

The roof over your head is literally your first defense against the outside elements. Your entire home and possessions are at risk with a roof that is in bad shape. Water leaks from snow and ice can do some serious damage to the entire structure of the building. The problem isn’t going to go away and it might end up being more expensive at a later date. If you call a qualified Tulsa Roofer as soon as you notice a problem you’ll actually be saving money by preventing further damage.

No matter what type of roof you have, replacing it can be a major expense. The roofing materials are only a small part of what you’ll pay. The largest single expense will be in the labor costs of the Tulsa Roofer labor. Roofing is a skilled trade that calls for knowledge in several areas including carpentry, house framing and math. Finding a Roofer is not difficult. Locating a reliable Tulsa Roofer with know-how and ability to do the work properly might be a little harder.

You Can Find a Tulsa Roofer

You have a number of options when it comes to finding a qualified Tulsa Roofer. Asking family and friends for referrals is a great starting place in your search. Find out if someone you know has worked with a Roofer before and if they were pleased with the results. If possible, take a look at the work. A happy homeowner with a sound roof over his head is a good sign so get the contact information on his Roofer.

The phone book will be an easy first step or take a look at a local home supply center. A qualified Roofer will often leave business cards on a bulletin board supplied as a courtesy by the home centers. Searching for a local directory for a good Tulsa Roofer via the web is a quick source. Generally, only the true professional will go to the effort of getting listed.

Evaluating each Roofer from your list you have compiled is the next step. Check with the Better Business Bureau to see if any Roofer you have in mind has any complaints on file and how they were resolved. Make sure the Tulsa Roofer has the proper licensing. You can call the state contractors license board to verify this. A less than excellent work record with a number of negative reports should enable you to shorten your list down to one Roofer.

A Tulsa Roofer Interview

Interview each Tulsa Roofer about the work you need done. That time together will ascertain whether your job is within his abilities, and you’ll also get a feel for how you two will get along. Keep in mind that communication is a very significan't part of a positive outcome for any project. Start by asking about their past job experience. The level of experience of a Roofer will help you to determine if they have the ability to handle the job. Copy the number of his state contractor’s license which you do need to see, as you may need it for further checking.

Active insurance policies must also be in place. This includes general liability and workers compensation. Request copies of all policies and the contact information for the insurance carrier. The department of workers compensation should be called to assure that complete coverage is in place. Without adequate insurance for those working in or on your home you could find yourself in danger of legal implications that could cost far more than you ever bargained for.

References from your Tulsa Roofer applicants are important, but not the sole source for making a choice. Keep in mind that if there are any unhappy customers it’s not likely that you’ll be told about them. Check with the local Better Business Bureau to find out if there are any complaints on file. If you are told that there are complaints, you should ask how they were resolved. A complaint or two doesn’t make for a bad Roofer but if there are several complaints that have never been resolved it could mean the Roofer simply isn’t trustworthy.

How to Obtain a Bid from a Tulsa Roofer

After you have your list of potential contractors, you’ll want to request some bids. More is not better when it come to the number of bids you request. Three or four is adequate. If a Roofer feels there is too much competition he may simply walk away. In actuality, a well known Roofer could have other clients waiting while you're still in the decision process, thus you may lose a bid from the most qualified Tulsa Roofer. So select just a few contractors and select the best Roofer for the bidding process.

Don’t forget that you want more than just a piece of paper with a total figure. An itemized list including cost plus labor is in order. Give each Tulsa Roofer a list of what you want to see in all the bids. By doing this you should receive quotes that are based on the same work, making them easier to compare. It will be easy to spot where one bid is higher or lower than another.

The lowest bid is not one that you should necessarily jump at, nor is the highest a promise of better quality. You should look for a balance of both reasonable price and good service. If a bid is lower than any others you are offered, ask why. One Roofer might have less overhead, fewer employees or even a cheaper source for materials and are able to pass the savings on to their customers but whatever the reason for the low bid you need to verify that it is legitimate.

Having made your choice for a Tulsa Roofer, you now need a contract in place.
